Millionaires Everywhere

Are you a millionaire yet? I just read an article about a survey conducted by Capgemini and Merrill Lynch and Company that said there are now 8.7 million millionaires in the world, the growth being largest in Asia, Africa, the Mid East and Latin America, an increase largely attributed to oil prices rising.
Here are some interesting statistics from the survey.
- the number of people with more than 1 million to invest climbed 6.5 percent last year
- millionaires account for 0.13% of the world population, while 40% of the world lives on less than $2 per day
- increase in millionaire rates were: 7.3% in Asia, 6.9% in North America, and 4.5% in Europe.
- the number of "ultra-high-net-worth" individuals who have more than $30 million in assets increased by 10%
- 1 in every 100 persons in the U.S. is a millionaire, the highest rate by far of all nations. The U.S has 2.7 millionaires. Britain has 448,000, China 320,000 and India 83,000
- The biggest source of wealth in all countries was from business. Business accounted for 37% of all millionaires.
The gist of the report was that more people are becoming millionaires at a faster rate than ever. In many countries, particularly poorer ones, a certain level of prestige is associated with being a millionaire. But the status of being a millionaire is no longer so exclusive. They are becoming a "dime a dozen" so that the new level of status is to be a "multi-millionaire or even a billionaire. Anyway...I think when those who dream of millions eventually get it, they find the dream was far better than the reality of having so much money.
They are at it again in Singapore! The most obsessed nation on the planet has stepped up it's campaign against dirty rest rooms by announcing a new cleanliness obsessed Singapore diploma program for toilet cleaners there. That's right! A poop scrubber can now have a better status after earning MPO degree, Master Of Poop (or whatever they will call it..I admit that I made up the name of the degree.) More than 50 toilet cleaners will be promoted to "rest room specialists" upon completion of the course that will be taught by alleged Japanese experts in the latest toilet technology. This is all supposed to "flush" the bad image and low wages of toilet cleaners in Singapore by training them to do more while on the job.
A total of 64 one hour classes are in the curriculum that will be challenging enough to get any of the students off the toilet and into the library for study. This professionalization of toilet cleaners is part of recent campaigns in Singapore to improve the already clean ( by anyone else's standards) Singapore public toilet. For example, in the fall the government issued "new guidelines" for public toilet usage (Only in Singapore is a human not allowed to poo as he or she likes) because the lines for women's toilets in Singapore are sometimes long ones.
It also recently rated toilets and awarded "five-star" or "Happy Toilet" ratings to those that are cleanest and has published maps showing where the 500 cleanest Singapore toilet are located. After reading all of this you probably want to throw up...but don't try it in Singapore. You might tarnish one of those 5 star toilet ratings.
