The celebrity bandwagon for "Hurricane Katrina Relief" keeps widening. In many cases the artist who performs for charity is sincere, but we are seeing many fading or faded "stars" who seem more intent on garnering publicity fr their declining popularity appeal than for raising money for victims of the storm.
The latest of those is un-convicted, alleged child molester Michael Jackson. It seems that Michael has written a Katrina relief charity single and hopes to release the song sometime this month. From his new base in the Mid East (where his sexual lust for kids evidently will be excused), MJ has been working through satellite and phone connections with 12 recording artists who have agreed to participate.
Supposedly, MJ has written the song, but ha yet to name it, having changed the title several times. Perhaps, MJ sees the publicity from a "charity" act as away to revive his now nearly dead career. But will people excuse the many allegations and the pay outs Jackson has made over the years to silence allegations of his sexual preference for kids? He is essentially "old news" to the crowd that likes his kind of music, so I think this may be a desperate stab at saving his career. The good news for MJ is that the song need not be musically interesting or of any particular high quality The media frenzy that accompanies it will assure it is well received. Such is the nature of show business theses days.
